Harper Kamp - NCAA Betting Odds: California Golden Bears and USC Trojans

After falling out of first place in the Pac-12 last weekend, California Golden Bears looks to rebound against last-place USC Trojans. The Bears have won six of their last eight, while the injury-plagued Trojans have won only two of their last 16 games. California has the statistical edge over Southern Cal in most every category, but barely beat the Trojans 53-49 in the teams’ first meeting Dec. 29. California is seeking its first regular-season sweep of Southern Cal since 2005-06.

The Golden Bears have opened as 8-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.

California Golden Bears (18-6): The Bears tied their win total for all of last season with a 68-47 victory over Arizona State on Saturday. The Sun Devils shot 38.3 percent in the loss, marking the 13th time that California has held its opponent to less than 40 percent. Southern Cal is likely to join the list since the Trojans average a conference-worst 53.8 points. Forward Harper Kamp averages 10 points and five rebounds, and he’s one of four Bears to average double digits. Jorge Gutierrez had 13 points and seven boards against Southern Cal in the teams’ first matchup, and he leads the Bears in steals with 30. California has lost only once in 16 games at Haas Pavilion.

USC Trojans (6-18): Thanks to a constant run of injuries, the Trojans are down to six scholarship players. One bright spot has been forward Garrett Jackson, who is averaging 15.3 points over the last three games. Maurice Jones had three late 3-pointers and scored 17 points in the Trojans’ first game against the Bears. Southern Cal outrebounded California 38-28, with Dewayne Dedmon and Aaron Fuller combining for 12 rebounds. Both players have since suffered season-ending injuries. Coach Kevin O’Neill said the Trojans will continue to shoot from beyond the arc, even though the team is shooting a league-worst 24.5 percent from 3-point range through 11 conference games.

1. Kamp needs 19 points to reach 1,000 for his career and seven rebounds to reach 500.

2. The Bears lead the all-time series 130-120, but Southern Cal has won six of the last 10 games.

3. The Trojans average only 11.5 turnovers per game, and their turnover margin of plus-4.3 ranks first in the Pac-12.
